This is a wonderful book. It's a quick read (1 1/2 to 2 hours) and very logically and reasonably refutes the popular belief that "good people go to heaven". Sound doctrine without being "preachy", and my favorite part is the last chapter, which deals with the idea of "fairness". This book is just what I needed to be able to give a dear friend, and to a relative. Love the six-pack idea, it's that good!
I'm nearly finished reading it. I will give it to my sister to share with her friends. This book should never set on a bookshelf. Pass along to every person you know. It doesn't cost much but it answers so many questions for people who haven't had it explained in a way they can understand and apply it to their own life. No pressure. It's just a book.
People generally think that doing good works or just 'being' good in this life will get them to heaven. Andy Stanley clearly explains how the Bible shows there is only One way to eternal life. Worth reading to strengthen your own beliefs or to share as a tool for those on the fence about who God is.
This little book is a no nonsense approach to the main theme of the Bible. It is well written, easy to read, and logical in its approach to what a lot of people deem a sensitive subject. The author has a very personal touch and comes across as a real, sincere, and humble man delivering a powerful message of hope. His message is not his own, but one delivered by God. The message is simply that no one can be, or ever will be "good enough" to find favor with God. Despite that fact, the world is full of "religions" that operate under the mistaken notion that it is possible to be "good enough" by adhering to a prescribed list of do's and don'ts. The author logically discusses why concluding that it is possible to be "good enough" is utterly unfair, and makes no sense at all. He goes on to discuss God's caring, self sacrificing solution to the problem.Bottom line, this is the perfect little book for someone who needs a short, well written, common sense approach to a touchy subject. The author is straight forward, candid, and shares his thoughts with a sense of humor that is disarming.This is a must have booklet.

Bought six and gave them to family and friends. We all, I'm sure they might be an exception out there somewhere, so change "all" to "some." Nevertheless, there is no denying that hoping to get into heaven is not the right path.... what is? read and see. Truly an eye, heart, and mind opener. A must read, especially since it can be read cover to cove in about 30 minutes or less.

The book's ideas help us who believe to more fully appreciate the struggles that a non-believer experiences in the search for God's forgiveness.Its primary point is that no human being is "good enough" to win God's forgiveness by personal efforts. No matter how sincere we are, no matter how much good we do for others, no matter how much time we spend in prayer and worship, we cannot even come close to God's righteousness. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ. The forgiveness we receive is a gift given; it cannot be earned.It's understandable that most unbelievers who are searching for God try to be "good enough" to earn God's acceptance. Since they, nor we, can be "good enough" on our own efforts, many give up their search for God.Andy Stanley makes it clear that anyone can become good enough to satisfy God standards through Jesus Christ if they are sincere in their acceptance of Christ as their atonement as the only way to become "good enough".A book that's nice to have around when a question arises about what someone needs to do to earn salvation.
