My daughter is now a L7 USAG gymnast and I can no longer keep up with the terms of the latest moves she is learning. This book has them and describes them well enough for me to understand her when she gets a move and is thrilled or is struggling with a move. The diagrams help as she can point to them and show me where she is having an issue and even better, she can show me how she is able to overcome those roadblocks. My only complaint is that it does not have enought moves described/detailed.

It is a thin book (because of the small print) packed with facts and guiding knowledge. Comprehensive, from the Judging Codes of Points to individual skills; and practically technical, based only on objective analysis of the process (focused on the goals, without bias on one type of coaching). It is also appreciated that it evenly covers both men and women gymnastics.

My daughter found this very helpful. She compare what her coaches have to say to the book. She really did found it helpful.

It helped me coaching.I like that it helped me through my teaching from level 4 to 7,and sure it will help more for references.

First I will honestly admit I have never seen Gabourey's work. I don't even enjoy autobiographical works.I absolutely enjoyed this book despite this. She had interviewed on Elvis Durran and then later on the Daily Show and I thought that Gabourey seemed like a funny vivacious woman with a book that looked to be as fun.I wasn't expecting the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on. Yes, there was a lot I could only appreciate as an outsider which I expected having come from a completely different background. What was amazing was I also found plenty to relate to.Gabourey talks about the struggle against depression and feeling like you don't deserve what you have even when you do. And I wanted to meet her and tell her "Yes! That's it exactly!" Then and many other times. Like boyfriends, feel that. Feeling awkward? All the time.What I'm trying to say is read the book. It's incredibly inspirational and she is wonderful about sharing her life and fears. I know some people will go into this thinking they won't get anything out of it. You will, trust me.

This book is funny! A wonderful read, and I guarantee you will not be able to put it down. I also purchased this book on "Audibles", it's an Amazon audio book store, so I could listen to it while I'm out and about! Guys, this book was wonderful! I bought the kindle version with Gabourey narrating and I literally spent my entire day off listening to it. I finished in one day while walking, cleaning, eating, cooking, bathing and then just chilling. It was THAT good that I wasn't willing to stop for anything. I even had to charge my phone at one point! Thank you Gabourey Sidibe for sharing so much of yourself and your life story! You inspire and entertain!

I can't lie, I got this book just because I'm a fan and I wanted to support. I never imagined how much you would inspire me. I got the audio because I figured I could multitask while listening but that was not the case lol. NOTHING got done while I listened to you. Your personality is awesome! Thank you for telling us your story. I wish you so much more success in life! I look forward to seeing you more often on the big screen.

"I gave this memoir 5 stars because I feel like a memoir should have a good writing voice, be honest and revealing, be juicy, and if possible inspirational/ funny. Sidibe met all of these aspects in her work.The story reads like she speaks, and is basically somewhat of a one- breath girly rant on her life thus far. The first quarter of the book is the juicy part, then again at the end when she talks about her questionable job choice and her surgery. Otherwise, there's just a little information with a lot of blabbering. The read is fun though, she gives a pretty cute rant.If I had to guess, I'd suspect that if you want to know about the real Gabourey and her life, you'll find this book endearing. However, if you're looking for a train wreck, you'll pick apart her speech, her life, her choices, and probably her race and looks in criticism and hate the book.

Love it! A book you really don't want to put down. I purchased because I'm a fan and wanted to know more about this talented Woman. I love how she talks about her family's history, very intriguing. I resonated with many of the stories she tells so very well. I also really love that the book is written how one would actually speak, with common vocabulary. I hate when i pick up a book filled with words no one uses in daily life. I find it unnecessarily pretentious and choppy. Down to earth, confident and unique Gabourey! Look forward to seeing her on the big screen again.

I've read all of Nadine's previous books. They were informative and I really enjoyed them due to her story-telling style, her sense of humor and her willingness to share details to help others. Her stories of the challenges she and her husband Rob have faced moving to Costa Rica are informative, interesting and hilarious. My husband had some difficulty getting through the previous editions because he likes 'just the facts.' We have both read MANY books about moving to Costa Rica and he feels this was the best book he has read to date. It was informative, well-organized and a quick read for him. He especially liked the detailed list of what groceries cost. The only thing he would add to the next edition is more about the cost of housing based on location. Can't wait to visit the Happier House soon!

Funny, well written, experience is there and shows. This is a good read as a returning reader or someone new to Nadine.Nadine is not afraid to recommend someone specific or a specific product. I think this is a better practice from other authors that just suggest ideas.I will be utilizing the links to businesses and people she talked to. Planning another exploratory trip to Potrero area (2019) and will be adding these business as stops (brewery).I do object to the comment where she called olive loaf the fruitcake of sandwich meats. Olive loaf is the most fantastic item in any deli counter.

I read Nadine’s first “Happier Than A Billionaire” book a few years ago. The first, and then the sequel, made me want to visit Costa Rica. Then, “An Acre In Paradise” made me not only want to visit Costa Rica, but to stay at The Happier House when I do. Now, as I finish “The Costa Rica Escape Manual” (2019), I am on the eve of my first ever trip to Costa RIca, and indeed a stay at The Happier House. I already feel like I know Rob and Nadine, and look forward to meeting them in person. The Escape Manual is filled with great information, whether you’re planning to be an ex-pat or a tourist, and permeated with Nadine’s unique sense of humor, as well as interactive links (in The Kindle version) to websites and YouTube videos. I’ve already got a rough itinerary for my trip, but I also know already that 9 days won’t be enough, and to take in all that Nadine recommends, there will have to be a sequel to this trip.

You cannot learn to paint color with black and instruction. Materials mentioned to use are no longer available. The company is no longer in business. To bad. An update would have a great book.

Terrible. This is nothing more than a reprint of a 1982 book printed again in 2015. Images are dark, dated and dreary, and most are black and white (with only a handful of poor quality color images). Text is also poor quality, as appears to be just a facsimile of the original text. Terribly disappointing and a waste of money.

I teach this technique at a community college to people who never painted before, and they achieve remarkable success immediately. This is one of the most important books that I own.

If you want to know about traditional painting methods Frank Covino has done the work to try and reconstruct them and he presents it all here. The book is out of print and mine is not in the greatest shape but it's worth it if you can find one for a reasonable price and you are interested in learning about underpainting methods.

Frank Covino's book is a wealth of knowledge for any artist. The condition of the book, however, was misrepresented as upon opening the book for the first time the first 12 pages detached from the binding. It appears that someone tried to glue them back. I'll keep the book but am disappointed the condition was not as represented.

I have nothing but good things to say about this manga and anime series. However the volume 2 I purchased has a huge misprint. Part way through chapter 7 I suddenly found myself reading chapter 6 again. No I'm not reading it backwards. They actually printed chapter 6 twice along with the character intros and index! The pic I took shows the page where chapter 7 gets cut off by the title page, starting the story over again. I don't expect them to proofread every copy, but why should I try reordering if it's just going to happen again?! I can only imagine how many misprints are out in the wild already...

I'm a big fan of this series, and the events of volume 2 go a long way towards setting up the primary dynamic between the quintuplet Nakanos. It's definitely a good read for the overall story.The first issue I ordered DID have a bit of a problem where some of the pages from later in the volume were accidentally duplicated (and replaced a bunch of other pages, unfortunately), but fortunately Amazon's return policy got me a replacement volume just one day later (which is what I call service), so no harm done in the end. Still, I have seen a few other people mention it, so be sure to check your copy thoroughly if you buy this volume.

I found the text well laid out and easy to follow in most areas, as the author does a superb job of keeping description and explanation as simple as possible. I heartily recommend this book for anyone serious about the study of operations management.

This is a very comprehensive book that goes much further in depth than most other college level texts. I kept the book after the course ended as a reference since so many concepts are covered with enough detail to be useful later on.

Well-developed and written, with myriad real examples of companies and their application of principles covered in this text. Our instructor has much praise for it, and the availability of study guides, quizzes, and slide presentations for students is very helpful in navigating these complex topics. I have subscribed to the Kindle version and find it easy to use, and I have it on my notebook and PC at home, so it's available when I need it.

As the mother of a 13 year old, I was delighted to have an opportunity to read this book. Who wouldn't want to foster courage, curiosity, and resilience in her child? The book did not disappoint. It is well-written, insightful, and very easy to read. The authors provide plenty of anecdotal examples based on experiences with their clients, and is full of entertaining, relatable cartoon drawings depicting various scenarios.Much of the advice seems to be tailored at dealing with younger children (elementary school age), but the guidance applies to older children as well. The authors remind us that a child's brain is not yet fully formed, so he is, at times, incapable of controlling his emotions or responses to situations. When a child acts or responds in a certain way, rather than criticizing and condemning the behavior, we should seek to understand it, and help the child learn how to cope better to perhaps respond differently in the future. The focus is on empathetic parenting and is a reminder for the need to be patient when parenting.The authors discuss three "zones" -- a red zone, full of rage and anger and frustration; a blue zone, which is detached and checked out; and a green zone -- the good place to be. They talk about figuring out your child's tolerance for conflict and steps you can take to broaden the green zone, or help your child move back into the green zone when they are angry or scared.To promote resilience, the authors recommend that you shower your children with the four S's -- make them feel safe, seen, soothed, and secure. You want to create a safe environment where they can try new things, express concerns without negative repercussions, responding to their anger with calmness and understanding rather than being angry because they are angry. It's hard. It's really hard. Young teenagers especially can say some pretty mean things toward their parents -- but I'll just keep reminding myself that the teenaged brain is not yet fully developed.As the authors point out, people who are caring and empathetic are generally less frustrated, less angry, less judgmental --- and no doubt happier in life. The book gives guidance on how to help nurture your child's ability to react with empathy to others. By encouraging and children to be empathetic using the language and guidance provide, we can actually help rewire our children's brains. There's a lot here about neuroplasticity and the ability to change how we're wired. It sounds promising --All of this is easier said than done. I was pumped up with all sorts of ideas on how to promote positivity after reading this delightful book. But reading a book is no guarantee of successful implementation of the techniques therein -- and that is easier said than done. I'm working on it.

I have read Whole Brain Child, No Drama Discipline and Parenting from the Insight Out. The Yes Brain expands on those books, but even more exciting has sections for us as parents to reflect on ourselves. I really love the exercises and cartoons, which engage my 4 year old. Definitely worth the read to help build resilience and courage! Easy to see where I can improve on seeing, hearing and being there for my kid, and nuture their inner spark. (And while working our way thru tantrums).

I won't bother with the book details, they're well covered in other reviews, so I'll just say that I really can't recommend these enough.Long story short, "The Whole Brain Child" and it's two companion books by the same authors, "No Drama Discipline", and more recently "The Yes Brain" really have been the most useful parenting books I've encountered. (they are loosely coupled, so you can read any of them individually, in any order)Of the 40 or so books (and zillion articles, studies, etc.) I gobbled up when we first found out we'd be expecting, these are the ones that really stand out, and that I can most hold up and say "I'm a better parent today than I otherwise would be, because I read this."These aren't read-once books for me - I still flip through them once in a while, as a refresher, three years later, and will probably continue to revisit them well into the future.I also make it a habit to gift hardcover copies of all three books to anyone we know who's expecting, along with an offer to buy them the e-book versions instead, if they'd rather have those.Even the best parents have room for improvement, and I can't really imagine anyone reading any of these without finding something that will add to their parenting skills.Bottom line, if you believe parenting is a skill to be honed, if you want to parent thoughtfully and intentionally rather than just echoing your own parents methods (which may have been just fine), if you want your parenting to be in tune with the facts and empirical evidence provided by modern psychology and brain-science (which has improved greatly over the last 20 years or so), and if you want a better understanding of how your child's mind works, how you can best guide that mind for long-term success, then please don't miss these books.What else can I say? Seriously, just buy the book - buy all three, if you can.Your kids will probably never thank you for reading them, but they should =o)

I'm a huge Fan Siegel fan and this book just is not on the same level as his other stuff. It constantly paraphrased and mentioned his other books. I bought this for original content, not as a review of his previous content. The tips are good and he is one of my favorite parenting experts. I just wish there was newer, more original content.

I really found this useful. I wish I had gotten it in print as I would have tabbed it. Also, the cartoons are difficult to read in the Kindle version. I do want to go back and show them to my son (they have chapter summaries to share with your kids). The red/green/blue zone idea was key to breaking through a barrier I was facing with my son. I plan to read their other books and I hope they are as good as this one is.
