Great to have it! I have to be honest here...I wasn’t completely sure I even wanted to read this book. I’m not into social media. I don’t want to spend tedious hours on the computer. I’d rather have face to face contact....but that’s not my reality. I have a day job and my side business, so the info I learn to improve my skills needs to be efficient, effective and spot-on. And I found it right here in this little book. And this book is great!!!If I could skip right over social media and not spend my time there, I would—> But with this book, I know I’m using social media effectively. Previously, I had complete dread communicating online...and that’s no longer the case.Lovely! Book is amazing!

Awesome! This book gives great examples so far. I knew a decent few ideas but the book breaks into so much further than I realized on my own. It gives you all the information you need to express all the different potential marketing avenues for each social media platforms. My one and only complaint so far is that I've found quite a few grammar errors in this book. It should be presented a bit more professionally in my opinion but it does the job non the less. Great book! Nice one!

"and merged into the child rearing section "Teaching Children Compassionately: How Students and Teachers Can Succeed with Mutual Understanding (Nonviolent Communication Guides)"as I do not own those two, they seemed an unnecessary ommission for this compilationIf you don't have many or any of the books in this compilation then this is a great grab to suppliment Nonviolent Communication as it is full of transcriptions of role-plays where you can see the method at work. Of course the best way to learn NVC is to practice it yourself but these conversations can help you learn how.

All of Rosenberg's short but pithy books present invaluable tools for helping others (and ourselves) resolve conflicts in a transformative way. As a life coach, leadership trainer, consultant and mediator, I have often seen clients hoping for more than just a compromise or reluctant agreement to end hostilities.Rosenberg's books give step by step procedures to guide one through helping others reach a safe place where each participant can know s/he is being heard and understood and to develop the same skill to hear and understand and respect others. That first step is followed by learning how to value what others are feeling, to know and value what oneself is feeling and to work together from that space to transform the conversation into one of respect and healing. The key is to create an emotionally safe place for that to happen. In this book there are tools to help any reader learn how to present oneself in a way that is not threatening and does allow one to open up to hearing and understanding others with the goal of making peace and being peace and to assist others in reaching that place as well. An invaluable tool!

I cannot get enough of this book! I am so happy that I chose this as my introduction to NVC. Each chapter reads like an "essay" of sorts and seems to be a wonderful summary of Rosenberg's work across a number of topics paired with clearly articulated "steps" for applying his principals and practices in ways that are immediately applicable to the reader's life. The examples--many cast as narratives or "dialogues" are particularly useful for showing the reader how NVC is practiced and the results that can be generated. Fabulous book. I have highlighted EVERY page.

This book is a combination of various small books of NVC (parenting, love relationship, taking care of anger, reconciliation of deep pain...). Get it if you dont have the small ones. I have read the small books and then reread this combined version. It is a wonderful version which gives you wide application of NVC in different domains and shows you in details how it works in those challenging situation. It is a wonderful book for deepening your understanding of NVC!

Living NVC appears to be six of Marshall Rosenbergs previous books, each based on Q&A at conferences and each focused on a different theme. Each book seems to have become a chapter. So that's the "Bargain" part.I found the Q&A format refreshing, easy to follow and full of useful insights for my path and those of many I know.Bought a copy for my Kindle reader and three more for my wife and friends.

The original NVC book is much more useful. This one is personal stories and feels drawn out but= i repeat -the original NVC book by Rosenburg is a MUST READ

I wish I had been introduced to this way of communicating when I was a young adult many years ago. It would have made a difference in my ability to get needs met and develop fulfilling relationship with myself and others. I am grateful that now I have it going forward. What a difference a raised consciousness can make. Thank you Marshall Rosenberg.

I'm giving this TWO Stars because it's still The Simpsons, but it's not really well described at all and could have been so much more.Be warned, it's not a history of the TV show, but more like a scrapbook of the Family (if they were a real family) from Homer and Marge as kids, to how they met, to their early jobs, to the birth of their 3 children.That's it.The entire book is basically a visual summary of all the "Flashback" episodes and scenes from the series presented in chronological order.If you are into that, then you will enjoy the book. If you were looking for a 25 year history of the TV series, you will not find that here at all. I collect everything I can with the Simpsons, but I am actually returning this book because it's not worth the price of admission to me.Be careful what you are buying if you pick this book up. It's not at all what I thought I was buying.EDIT - I'm starting to question all the sudden "5 star" reviews, that say almost nothing other than a few words.... Don't look at the overall star rating, but read the actual reviews before deciding to buy this book. The negative reviews are honest, the positive reviews mostly say nothing of value.

Just rehashes what you've seen in shows. Beautiful glossy pictures but if you're a die-hard fan like me, it might not be so fun

This has almost everything you would want to know about the Baha'i faith. It's also fascinating to read--even though it's an encyclopedia, every time I go to look something up, one thing leads to another and I get sucked into it and end up reading much more.

Over the past year, for a project I've read a wide variety of encyclopedias on religious movements, religious issues, and religions in general. Out of more than 20, Smith's encyclopedia is certainly the best. Unlike some volumes of the "Concise Encyclopedia of X" series, Smith has reasonably detailed entries, ranging from a paragraph to several pages. The articles themselves are very clear and well-written, with suggestions for further reading. The articles cover an enormous range of personalities, doctrine, and history of Baha'i. Fascinating.

AN EXTRA STAR WILL BE BETTER.

I have been attending several Bahai classes and also reading several Bahai books but I find that this book makes it a lot more easier to understand. Some of the other books uses "old & flowery" English :-) which usually takes me longer to understand.. but not this book. I am also one of those people that process information in point forms so this book definitely works for me.. Highly recommended reading for someone who is a seeker like me :-)

This Encyclopedia covers a HUGE variety of topics. History of the faith, central characters, daily life practices, stances on topics from abortion to burial practices.

This is a must buy book for all Bahai's. When I first bought it I couldn't put it down. The missing link in any library. The information is accurate and concise. It would take you years to compile this information. Don't wait, get one as soon as possible. You will be overjoyed at the vast information included in this book. Should have had this book 30 yrs. ago.

I have been impressed by the clarity and eloquence of the short essays under such difficult to describe topics as "the soul." The references to primary works where the reader can find more information are accurate and easy to use, although the Encyclopedia itself does an admirable job of answering most of the questions I've had. It is richly illustrated, with an easy to read type.

This book, while being a short read and taking more of a comical stance than you would expect on such a subject, was actually packed with quite a bit of information. A brief history lesson complete with multiple interpretations of the 2nd amendment from our founding fathers to today's court rulings on the matter. The author also touched on many ways that guns and other forms of self defense may be used and the potential consequences of our actions when we cause harm in the name of defending ourselves. Excellent read for anyone who owns a gun, wants one, has any feelings at all towards gun legislation, or maybe unsure about how to appropriately defend themselves in a lawful way. Overall an easy, enjoyable read, would recommend for just about everyone!

A thoughtful look at the 2nd amendment. I appreciated the way humor was used in a tasteful way to make it a light read while approaching serious subject matter. I enjoyed the format of looking at each of the individual words in the 2nd amendment and breaking them down individually. A light read, a serious subject, yet very fun and informaitve!

an interesting read. gives a good perspective on development of the laws and their interpretation and application.

I HATE PHONOLOGY, but this book finally made things clear enough to me that I could pass my PhD comps in Phonology. If you're as lost as I was (For example, after reading Peng's book) then give this guy a try.Well done, Dr. Hayes.

A good, easy to understand guide to phonology. It takes you slowly through a very complicated process, breaking it down into its component parts in order to make it easily understood. The beginning of the book focuses on single phoneme analysis, and in chapter four, introduces the features used to craft phonological rules, and from there moves into increasingly complex analyses, utilizing plenty of examples to illustrate its points. Yet the book itself is relatively small, which is a bonus if you have to carry around a lot of texts on campus.

Taught undergraduate Introduction to Phonetics and Phonology out of this book in 2013. Students found it understandable, and it's organized very intuitively. It definitely needs to be supplemented with another book for phonetics and with extra exercises, but definitely a good introduction to the subject.

This is a perfect book for readers who are the beginners of Phonological study. It is well-organized and comprehensive in almost all the topics in the field of Phonology. The abstract and difficult theories can be easily explained with a lot of examples. That is the most impressed point!

Not really for anyone who is not in a Phonology class, but this book is perfect for anyone who needs this book. In perfect condition. Mine came wrapped in plastic.

I thought this was phrenology. Riveting.

i'm not one who enjoys strenuous reading that takes forever just to know what the point of the chapter was, and this book was very straight forward when explain phonological concepts. I've only read the first 3 chapters for school but it definitely looks promising. I'd recommend it as a good phonology textbook.
