But gave the book to a friend who is thrilled by it.To each his own.. You cannot judge a book solely on the opinions and preferences of others.
Its disguised as a diet book, but in reality its a book about self "fufillment". Like I'm sure so many people in the world do, when they get stressed, they turn to food.This book opened my eyes to the habits that probably 90% of people do. Instead of eating to fufill a need, because we're bored, angry, tired, or depressed, Deepak tells you to take a step back, take a deep breath and do some soul searching "what do I really want with my life?" .Don't get me wrong there's plenty of diet advice.... Deepak gets you to be aware of what you eat, and that you're allowed to eat crappy food every once in a while. Cold turkey NEVER works when dieting, it only leads to crash and burn.Overall amazing book and made me buy some of his other work.
A very very helpful guide. This book offers knowledge that can restore or create a healthy relationship with food. I did not realize how many guilt feeling can be attached to eating until I read this book. Free your mind and just enjoy the gift and beauty of food! I LOVE DEEPAK!
I always love Deepak! I got this book as a kindle book and also on Audible. I know it's something I will go back to again and again. I don't think I learned much that was new information to me, as a Certified Health Coach. However, he has a way of framing information that helps you really understand it at a deeper level.
Thoughts about weight loss, dieting, which are the focus of the first part of the book are very good. His eating plan is highly restrictive, rather unworkable...disappointing.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants the answer as to WHY they over eat. It is the awareness that you eat because you are hungry for what is missing in your life. It is this mindfulness that makes you Stop self-sabotaging behaviors!!!!!Yes I have to say that is me jumping up and down, I get it. I get it finally. As good as it is You can't just read this book. Deepak takes you through the process of actions you must do for a permanent solution! I am thankful this book was written. Namaste.
I am going to read this again. It really made me aware of what I was putting in my mouth. I feel like I'm more accountable and doing a free daily meal calorie counter on line now. This is my first Chopra book and intend to read more from him. I like the style of writing and the messages.
